Honesty is the Best Recruiting Philosophy.

Honesty is the Best Recruiting Philosophy.

When it comes to recruiting, we believe that honesty is the best policy. We hear horror stories from drivers all the time about the amazing things recruiters have promised them but didn’t come through on. Often the job turns out to be nothing like dream job they were sold on.

We think that is a shame. That is the reason we make a strong point of being straight forward from the very first conversation. We call it our “No Surprises Recruiting Philosophy.” Our goal is to deliver just exactly that, no surprises.

What exactly does no surprises mean? It means we are going to tell you the absolute truth about driving for Nussbaum. Even if it’s not pretty. Because, let’s face it, the trucking job description is just not always nice to read. It’s weeks away from family, long days on the road, inspections, regulations, delays, and you name it. Despite that, our recruiters want you to know exactly what you are getting into when you step into a Nussbaum truck for the first time. And we think the results speak for themselves.

Take a look at these results from a 2016 survey of drivers who had been with us for less than one year. We asked them a few questions about our orientation process to gauge how well we met their expectations.

As you can see well over 90% of new drivers agreed that:

  • The job was fully described during the hiring process
  • Orientation gave them the information needed to do their job well.
  • The reality of their job matched the expectations they had when they were hired.

For us, this is a big win. This means that we are giving our drivers a realistic understanding of what to expect from day one. We believe you can also see the results in our low turnover rates. Drivers who are not hit with a bunch of surprises and broken promises tend to be more satisfied. And when a company continues to be honest those drivers often want to stay around.
