Each year since 2015, a driver has nominated Nussbaum as a “Best Fleet to Drive For” to Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) and CarriersEdge. Competition is whittled down to the top 20 fleets through interviews, questionnaires, and evaluation. Upon receiving this award in 2018, TCA and CarriersEdge have selected Nussbaum as a Top 20 “Best Fleet to Drive For” for four consecutive years!
According to the American Trucking Association (ATA), there are over 550,000 for-hire carriers as of 2015. Considering that number, we are elated by the prominence of this award – being recognized as one of the 20 “Best Fleets” in North America. With our drivers’ dedication, the wheels of Nussbaum Transportation continue to go ‘round, ramping up recognition as we cross the country.
The repeated acknowledgment of our fleet thrills us. We know that a beloved, well-made company isn’t born overnight. Our drivers and staff work hard providing the best they can, giving everything they can, and loving their company.

But, what does Nussbaum do that makes us stand out with our drivers? Some of our favorite programs recognize when a driver gives 110% and keep communication lines open between those on the road and those in the office. A few of our favorites are:
- Selfless Actions. Emergencies and frustrations happen. When another driver needs to get home to his family, and you offer to split a load even though it’ll push back your time at home. Or when you are held up at a customer for too many hours, and you work diligently with ops to resolve the issue, we notice and send a personal thank you with a gift.
- Above and Beyond Cleanliness. It can be a damper when your truck is turned in for a tune-up at the shop. But if the maintenance staff notices your truck is exceptionally clean, don’t be surprised to receive a call from Brent Nussbaum recognizing you going above and beyond! Our management doesn’t just call when something is wrong; they let you know when they notice you are doing a great job.
- Pulse-Taking Calls. Nussbaum managers engage in regular “pulse-taking” phone calls that open communication. Each manager calls a driver weekly to catch up. They ask how things are going, hear suggestions and sentiments, and take away ideas to implement for greater job satisfaction.
