More than that, it is the start of an extended weekend of celebration we lovingly call Labor Day Weekend.
For many hard working people, Labor Day Weekend is a time to kick back with the family, fire up the grill, and just relax. But even more than that, Labor Day is a day for celebration. It is a day where we get to recognize all of the contributions that workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.
Unfortunately, not all workers get to enjoy the full benefits of the holiday. There are many jobs out there that simply must go on. Trucking is a great example of that. Holiday or no, truckers will be out on the road getting their freight to where it needs to go.
Trucking is a tough job with long hours and endless hazards that is, sadly, often thankless. So this holiday weekend, as you’re sipping on your ice cold beverage and turning the hot dogs on the grill, take a moment to reflect on the fact that without those hard working truckers on the road, your beverage, hotdogs, or charcoal, or grill, or even your favorite”Kiss the chef” grilling apron would have never gotten to your local store for you buy.
Truckers work hard each day to get products and materials all across our nation to give us many of the conveniences we take for granted. We want to let them know that we truly appreciate their labor each and every day. After all, they keep America moving forward.
Enjoy the holiday weekend, and be sure to thank a truck driver, or any other hard working people you know that don’t get the day off. Like policemen, firefighters, EMTs, soldiers, … you get the idea.
And don’t forget to give yourself a little pat on the back…
You’ve earned it too!
